Here I Go...

Well... after much thought and a ton of blog surfing I feel like it might be time to start my own. So here I go...(I love ellipses, if you couldn't tell).

I teach 1st grade and this is my first full year. In the past I have jumped in after school has started (you know the "temporary" life) so this year will be something new and different. I am really excited to get going and put to good use all of the ideas I have picked up along the way and meld them with my own.

To start it off here are a couple of getting to know you activities/ back to school night decor projects that I did with my firsties the first week of school. I think the jacket people are hilarious! The hair alone makes me crack up each time I enter my room... and to top it off, the kids just adore them. The kids wrote a short book about themselves to be stapled inside their jackets.
And of course a Chicka Chicka Boom Boom project... one of my must haves! I have loved this book since I was a kid. We spent a ton of time talking about consonants and vowels, so we analyzed our names and put them on these palm trees :) They liked the fun sticky letters and the pom pom balls.... of course!

This week we will be continuing our Apple unit and beginning writers workshop, stay tuned...
